The host city of the 13th Master’U BNP Paribas is at the party! Thanks to Claire Feuerstein and Lucas Szewczyk, students at the Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA), the capital of the Alps is rising to the top of the French university tennis hierarchy. After the sixth consecutive men’s team title at the UGA, this is the third title of the season.
Former World N135 at the WTA, and still French number 38, Claire Feuerstein is studying physiotherapy. In the Hérault, the 31-year-old showed she was the strongest. After eliminating Marie Cerezo, also of the UGA in semi final (6-3 / 6-4), she won 7-6 6-1 in the final against Pauline Courcoux (Leonard Vince Paris). In the men’s draw, Lucas Szewczyk won the title for his last appearance. Qualified in the final by eliminating his partner CNUT Julien Eon (6-4 / 6-1), he went for the title 2018 after a remarkable fight against Paul Cayre (U. Toulouse). Defeated in the first set, he grabbed the next two to afford the trophy of French university champion (6-7 / 6-4 / 6-1).
